White House Listening Tour Slated for Pittsylvania County
The White House recently announced that President Obama has directed many members of his Cabinet to begin what it describes as a “listening tour” of rural America this summer. The tour will be in Virginia’s Blairs community on Saturday, 18 July 2009. Energy Secretary Steven Chu and Agricultural Secretary Tom Vilsack will be on a mission to develop “green jobs.”
Virginia Among 13 States to Recieve Weatherization Money
U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu today announced that the Department of Energy (DOE) is providing more than $448 million in Recovery Act funding to expand weatherization assistance programs in Alabama, Idaho, Maine, Missouri, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
Perriello Announces $8.8 Million in Stimulus Funds for 5th District Home Weatherization
Today, Congressman Tom Perriello announced that nearly $8.8 million will be made available to weatherize more than 1,100 homes in the 5th District, thanks to federal funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
