Perriello’s “Road to Recovery” Tour
During the President’s Day congressional recess, Rep. Tom Perriello will travel around the 5th District on a “Road to Recovery” tour. He will meet with many groups, including county politicians, students, the elderly and more. Those events are closed to the general public. Listed below are events open to the general public:

Perriello: Help on Way for Mounting Tuition Costs
U.S. Congressman Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas) and Congressman Tom Perriello (D-Virginia) today welcomed House Ways and Means Committee approval of a tuition and textbook tax credit in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Tax Act of 2009. (H.R. 598). This higher education tax credit is drawn from legislation they filed earlier this year.
Perriello to Volunteer with Longwood Students for MLK Day
During his campaign for Congress, Rep. Perriello initiated a “volunteer tithing” program to express the ethic of service he wanted to be a part of his campaign and his term in Congress. Over the course of the campaign, the Perriello team donated over 1,200 hours to volunteer projects.

Congressman Tom Perriello Takes Oath of Office
United States Representative Tom Perriello of Ivy, VA pledged to fight for economic recovery when he took the oath of office at 2:15 p.m. today. Perriello was sworn in during the opening ceremony of the 111th Congress in the House chamber of the U.S. Capitol.
Perriello Declares Win, Goode May Demand Recount
According to ABC 13, “Tom Perriello is declaring himself the winner of the 5th District Congressional race, after three days of changing vote totals. Perriello made the announcement today in Martinsville as he thanked volunteers for their support. Virgil Goode, meanwhile, says he won’t make any decisions about conceding or recounts until the State Board of Elections certifies the votes. That has to happen by November 24th.”
Recount Likely in Goode-Perriello Race?
According to Charlottesville’s Daily Progress, the lead for Democrat Tom Perriello in the 5th District race just got substantially larger over Rep. Virgil H. Goode Jr. The latest update at 2:05 pm gave Perriello an 814 vote lead. That puts Perriello with 50.1 percent of the vote, while Goode has 49.84 percent.
