Last year, 39 tornadoes struck Virginia, the second highest number ever recorded in a single year. More than 220 people were injured, and property damage amounted to $45 million.
14 Twisters Hit Vriginia in May
According to the National Weather Service, a total of fourteen tornados touched down in Virginia during May. Two powerful twisters struck the city of Suffolk and Stafford County, and it appears one touched down in Appomattox near Hixburg Road. Another twister touched down in Pittsylvania County, and yet another was tracked from Henry County into Franklin County, according to the weather service.
Possible Tornado Touches Down in Bent Creek
Bent Creek, a small community located near Rt. 60 and the James River bridge was hit by what appears to have been a small tornado on Tuesday, March 4.
