Oversized Loads to Affect Virginia Travel in July
An oversized tractor trailer carrying forging press equipment is scheduled to make three trips between Newport News and Martinsville (approximately 300 miles in each direction) starting Monday. The operators will travel along the designated routes between 6:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. and, if necessary, move to pre-determined stops along the route. Each trip is expected to take two to three days depending on weather and other unexpected conditions. Motorists traveling near the transport may experience delays.
Governor Kaine Announces 318 New Jobs for Newport News
Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that Continental AG, a leading global automotive supplier, will transfer its South Carolina manufacturing operations to its Newport News facility, creating 318 new jobs. The consolidation will combine the diesel and gasoline fuel injector manufacturing operations into a single location. The company will invest $194 million to relocate diesel fuel injector manufacturing as well as expand the existing gasoline fuel injector business line.
