CVCC Offers Classes in Downtown Appomattox
You don’t need to be a college student to take advantage of the Central Virginia Community College’s (CVCC) satellite center in Appomattox. Located at the old elementary school in downtown Appomattox, the CVCC Appomattox Center offers day and evening programs in credit and non-credit modes and specialized training in workforce development for business and industry. Delivery systems include traditional classroom instruction as well as Web-based/Internet courses, compressed video*, computer assisted programs and Lab-in-box learning.
Summer Employment Program is Back!
The Alliance for Families and Children in a partnership with Central Virginia Community College (CVCC) has been awarded a $290,000 grant from the Workforce Investment Board for the Youth Summer Employment Program serving Appomattox, Amherst, Bedford and Campbell counties as well as the cities of Bedford and Lynchburg. The program gives 110 low-income youth the opportunity for “on the job” training and the development of work readiness skills, all while earning a paycheck.
Mass Transit Coming to Appomattox County
Despite an area-wide power outage, about 40 people still showed up on Tuesday evening to hear John Davis describe his brand new bus service between Pamplin and Lynchburg. The meeting was held in the Appomattox Community Center and ran for about an hour.
