32BJ of the SEIU today endorsed Terry McAuliffe for governor, citing his plans to get hard-working Virginians back to work in high-quality, sustainable jobs. 32BJ of the SEIU, which has over 3,500 members in Virginia, emphasized their belief that McAuliffe’s comprehensive approach to economic growth, including proposals to improve Virginia’s health care, education, and transportation systems, was the best approach to improving the lives of their members and of all Virginians.

Several Virginia Democratic and elected leaders reacted to this weekend’s front-page Washington Post investigation into Terry McAuliffe’s business background. The Post labeled his background a “liability” and said that, despite McAuliffe’s repeated claims to the contrary, he has not created any jobs in Virginia. In fact, all five business the “Washington insider who got rich” started in Virginia have no employees.

After weeks of misleading attacks on Terry’s bold plans to make Virginia a national leader in renewable energy, the Moran campaign last week falsely accused McAuliffe of supporting offshore oil drilling, despite the fact that he has consistently opposed it. However, when he was in the General Assembly, Brian Moran actually voted FOR the current Virginia law, supported by Governor Kaine, that prohibited oil drilling but allowed for limited natural gas exploration 50 miles off the VA coast.
