Creigh Deeds
A Deeds Woman
Editor’s Note: We’ve ceased publishing press releases from the Governor’s and Lt. Governor’s campaigns, simply because the press releases have been irrelevant and have not focused on any important Virginia issues. However, we were stunned to hear about McDonnell’s graduate thesis, a paper that showed a singularly hostile tone and a social agenda against working women, unwed mothers and gay individuals that seems to have lingered in his current philosophy (The PilotOnline agrees and expands on the issue).
McDonnell Campaign Offers Debate Compromise
The gubernatorial campaign of Bob McDonnell offered to compromise today with the campaign of Creigh Deeds regarding the general election debate schedule.
Creigh Deeds on McDonnell Campaign’s ‘Welfare State’
Bob McDonnell’s campaign thinks Virginians would rather be on welfare than work. A top McDonnell surrogate and Republican Party of Virginia Chairman Pat Mullins said in Monterey last week that the reason there isn’t more employment in the area is that people “preferred to be on welfare.”
Obama and Deeds at Rally for Virginia Event
President Obama plans to be in McLean, Virginia on August 6 to stump for Creigh Deeds at the Rally for Virginia event. Obama was the first Democrat to carry Virginia in a presidential election in 44 years, and the governor’s race is seeking to continue that Democratic support. Deeds is running against Republican Bob McDonnell, the former attorney general.
AFSCME Makes $500,000 Donation to Deeds
Creigh Deeds has received a $500,000 donation from the powerful national union AFSCME, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. This donation is the largest single donation to the Deeds campaign to date. The donation comes on the heels of Deeds receiving $100,000 from the SEIU, a national union supporting the elimination of Virginia’s Right to Work law.
McDonnell Calls for Series of 10 Statewide Gubernatorial Debates
Bob McDonnell, Republican gubernatorial nominee and former Attorney General of Virginia, today proposed a formal series of ten gubernatorial debates, taking place statewide, between himself and Democratic nominee Creigh Deeds.
Creigh Deeds Endorsed by Union that Seeks to Overturn Virginia’s Right to Work Law
Democratic gubernatorial nominee Creigh Deeds today proudly accepted the endorsement of the Service Employees International Union. The SEIU supports overturning Virginia’s Right to Work law, a crucial part of Virginia’s pro-jobs economic environment. In the SEIU’s candidate survey the union asked:
Terry McAullife Remarks on Virginia Primary
Tonight, the McAuliffe campaign released the following remarks as prepared for delivery:
Deeds, Wagner Win Virginia’s Democratic Primary for Governor, Lt. Governor
With the least campaign funds and fewest ties to northern Virginia, State Senator R. Creigh Deeds won the three-way Democratic primary for the governor’s race. He will now face Republican Bob McDonnell this fall in the race for Virginia governor.
Creigh Deeds is Our Choice for the Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate
As a newspaper editor and publisher, I receive many press releases from gubernatorial candidates. The majority of the Democratic press releases come from Terry McAuliffe, a man who has the money to run an expensive and, therefore, effective campaign. I have not printed all his press releases, as it would appear that Appomattox News supports McAuliffe. This is not the case.
