The recent Honduras coup and subsequent cold shoulder from surrounding countries – including the U.S. – calls for a re-examination of foreign policy in Latin America. In C.L. Levy’s new novel, “El Volcan” (published by AuthorHouse), Levy uses the setting of a 1990s Communist insurgency in a fictional Central American country to address foreign policy mistakes, chiefly a lack of focus on the complex nature of a country’s culture.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports 16 percent of children (over 9 million) ages 6 to 19 years are overweight or obese – a number that has tripled since 1980. Another 15 percent of children are considered at risk of becoming overweight indicates the “Prevalance of Overweight and Obesity Among Children and Adolescents” (2004).
