About

Appomattox News is a privately owned Web site that disseminates information and news about the Appomattox area and its residents, businesses, historical figures, and events through the sites listed below. The owner, publisher and managing editor of Appomattox News and its family of Web sites is Linda Goin.

Although columns and weekly articles are printed on Wednesday mornings, Appomattox News has developed a policy where press releases, news and information about upcoming events are printed as soon as they are received. Please see our contact information to learn how to reach Appomattox News for your news or upcoming event.

Pamela Matlack Klein was the original managing editor, and she helped build the Appomattox Calendar and the Appomattox Directory. She was the author of the weekly column, Living Along the Appomattox, but she has since moved on to different horizons. Her husband, Bill Klein, also wrote for Appomattox News in his weekly column, Homesick Blues. Bill travels the world and he reported back weekly to Appomattox News with his humorous and insightful thoughts through this column. Unfortunately, Bill also felt he needed to move on, so we will miss them both in the future.

Ronnie D. Lankford, Jr. is a native Virginian and an Appomattox resident and a bang-up writer. He covers the growing interest in the arts in Appomattox County with the Steam-Powered Arts Review, but he also lends his expertise to various news stories for Appomattox News. Ronnie was the one who captured the Appomattox gas line explosion in photographs for this publication in 2008, and he helped to put this publication on the map with that effort.

Michelle Reeves is the Appomattox News‘ official transcriber. She transcribes all the Town Council meetings so we can bring you the latest news and information from that direction. Although we don’t attend the meetings, rest assured that Michelle doesn’t miss a beat in the DVD that the town provides for us, as she has a background in medical transcribing. You’ll get direct quotes, moves by council members, ideas that are brought forth, and opinions by our publisher based upon these meetings and other events around town.
