In partnership with City of Richmond Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities, Enrichmond, Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, and HandsOn Greater Richmond, nearly 250 Altria volunteers will participate in the 2010 Great American Clean Up beautification projects sponsored by Keep America Beautiful.
Altria Client Services employees will spend their entire work day at Forest Hill Park or Diversity Park to complete environmental restoration and beautification projects, over $20,000 has been invested to promote sustainable community improvement.
Approximately 1,000 tree seedlings donated by Virginia Department of Forestry will planted at Forest Hill Park. This effort will compliment the Alliance’s current conservation efforts in the Reedy Creek with residential properties. “The work being done at Forest Hill Park is an example
of what homeowners and businesses in the community can do on their own properties to positively benefit local water quality,” said Chris French, Virginia Director of the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay.
Clean up efforts at Diversity Park will focus on canal plantings, constructing park benches, litter reduction and preparing environmental educational materials in preparation for the Richmond Earth Day Festival, which takes place on Sunday, April 25 in Manchester.
