Highway work is scheduled weather permitting in the Lynchburg District and traffic may be restricted. The following traffic alerts apply to the fifth district in general:

- Rte 29 Carter Glass Bridge –Painting operations with permanent lane closure southbound.
- Rte 29 Business over Williams Creek (Town of Amherst) – Bridge rehabilitation. Motorists should be alert to changes in traffic pattern. Signs and signal will assist motorists in work zone.
- Various – Crews will mow, ditch, pick up debris and perform customer service.
Appomattox County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator (434) 352-7135
- Rte 609, 652, 702 & 800 – Tree trimming operations may result in minor delays.
- Rte 618 – Minor delay will occur during bridge deck repairs.
- Rte 630 & 633 – Minor delays during surface repairs.
- Rte 644 – Closed 5/4-7/1 for bridge replacement.
- Various – Crews will install entrance pipe and address customer concerns.

- Rte 658 – Crews will cut brush.
- Various – Crews will mow, do surface repairs and perform customer service.

- Rte 460 (681 – 622 and 501 – Concord Tkpe), 626, 655, 663, 711 –Surface repairs may result in lane/shoulder closures.
- Rte 501 (at trestle near 898 int.) – Road restricted to 1 lane with intermittent closures due to work by Norfolk Southern Rail. Work hours 8:30 – 4:30. Flaggers will assist motorists; signs and other traffic control devices will be in place. Motorists encouraged to use alternate routes.
- Rte 850 – Road construction. Be alert to presence of manpower and equipment.
- Rte 898 – Road will be closed with Rte 501. Detour via Rte 680.
- Mowing – Crews will mow in Timberlake Road area, as well as in Yellow Branch area.
- Various – Customer service will be performed at various locations.

- Rte 15 over 15/360 Bypass – Bridge rehabilitation project; one lane traffic controlled by signal. Be alert to changes in traffic pattern. Est. comp. 12/09.
- Rte 92 – Bridge closed indefinitely over Staunton River at Charlotte/Halifax County line.
- Rte 707 – Closed indefinitely due to bridge fire. Signed detour in place.

- Rte 45 (611 -614) – 35 mph speed limit; 1 lane only Mon – Sat, 7 am – 7 pm with flaggers and pilot vehicles assisting during construction. Minor delays likely. Est. comp. 5/14/10.
- Rte 600 & 690 – Surface repairs may delays motorists.
- Rte 615 – Crews will mow with boom axe. Watch for slow equipment.
- Various – Crews will mow and perform customer service.

- Rte 631 (640 – 668) – Road closed 6/8 – 9/4 for bridge removal and replacement.
- Rte 882 over Sandy River – Delays possible during bridge maintenance.
- Brosville – Crews will mow with the boom axe and repair potholes. Delays are possible.
- Mt. Airy – Crews will do bridge maintenance, mowing, surface repairs and customer service.
- Rondo – Crews will mow, make surface repairs and respond to customers.. Delays are possible.
- Residency-wide- Slurry seal operations may result in delays at various locations.

- Rte 15 over Rte 460 – Restricted to one 11’ lane in work zone. Est. comp. October 2009.
- Rte 460 – Shoulder stone will be placed. Be alert to presence of equipment.
- Rte 628 over Briery Creek (15 – 630) – Road closed for structure repairs. Detour in place. Est. comp. 8/09.
- Rte 688 – Crews will mow with a boom axe.
- Various – Crews will mow and perform customer service.
District-wide – Bridge washing on primary and secondary road structures continues.
