Highway work is scheduled weather permitting in the Lynchburg District and traffic may be restricted. This travel and advisory information covers much of the fifth district:

- Rte 29 Business Carter Glass Bridge –Various operations with lane closures southbound.
- Rte 29 Business over Williams Creek (Town of Amherst) – Bridge rehabilitation. Motorists should be alert to changes in traffic pattern. Signs and signal will assist motorists in work zone.
- Rte 29 – Plant mix schedule lasting until late July. Beginning Rte 29 North, north of Rte 29 Business and ending at Buffalo River before moving to the southbound lane. Motorists are encouraged to be alert to temporary lane closures and shifts in traffic pattern.
- Various – Crews will mow, ditch, pick up debris and perform customer service.
Appomattox County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator (434) 352-7135
- Rte 60 – Minor delays during surface repairs.
- Rte 664 – Crews will work on shoulders
Buckingham County: Alan Leatherwood, PE, Residency Administrator (434) 983-2017
- Rte 658 – Crews will cut brush. Caution is urged.
- Various – Crews will do customer service, surface repair and ordinary bridge maintenance.
Campbell County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator (434) 352-7135
- Rte 460 (681 – 622 and 501 – Concord Tkpe), 40, 626 and 711 –Surface repairs may result in lane/shoulder closures.
- Rte 737 (656 – 737) – Closed for approx. 2 months beginning 7/20 for pipe replacement.
- Rte 775 and 850 – Road construction. Be alert to presence of manpower and equipment.
- Mowing – Crews will mow in Timberlake Road area, as well as in Yellow Branch area.
- Various – Customer service will be performed at various locations.

- Rte 15 over 15/360 Bypass – Bridge rehabilitation project; one lane traffic controlled by signal. Be alert to changes in traffic pattern. Est. comp. 12/09.
- Rte 92 – Bridge closed indefinitely over Staunton River at Charlotte/Halifax County line.
- Rte 707 – Closed indefinitely due to bridge fire. Signed detour in place.
Cumberland County: Alan Leatherwood, PE, Residency Administrator (434) 983-2017
- Rte 45 (611 -614) – 35 mph speed limit; 1 lane Mon – Sat, 7 am – 7 pm with flaggers and pilot vehicles assisting during construction. Minor delays likely. Est. comp. 5/14/10.
- Rte 628 and other secondary routes – Surface repairs may delays motorists.
- Rte 639 & 660 – Crews will brush cut. Watch for slow equipment.
- Rte 690 near Fluvanna line and Town of Columbia – CSX Railroad tentatively plans to replace the crossing which will require closure of a portion of the road from 7/27 – 7/29.
- Various – Crews will perform customer service and do ordinary bridge maintenance.

- Rte 92 – Bridge closed indefinitely over Staunton River at Charlotte/Halifax County line.

- Rte 29 North – Plant mix schedule slated to begin in mid-July in Lovingston. Motorists are encouraged to be alert to temporary lane closures and shifts in traffic pattern.
- Residency-wide- Slurry seal operations may result in delays at various locations.
Pittsylvania County: Randy Hamilton, Residency Administrator (434) 432-7214
- Rte 58 Business West –N Main to Bryant Ave., expect possible delays through 12/31/09 due to Worsham Street Bridge project. Be alert and use caution. NOTE: For public safety, Route 58 under the Worsham Street Bridge will be closed beginning at 12:00 a.m. on Saturday, 7/18 and will reopen by 12:00 a.m. on Monday, 7/20. Truck traffic will use the 29 Bypass and Route 86; cars will use Old Halifax Road and Route 293.
- Rte 631 (640 – 668) – Road closed 6/8 – 9/4 for bridge removal and replacement.
- Brosville – Crews will mow, ditch and make surface repairs. Delays are possible.
- Kentuck – Crews will install driveway pipe and perform customer service. Delays are possible.
- Mt. Airy –Crews will do bridge maintenance, tree trimming, shoulder and surface repairs and customer service.
- Rondo – Crews will make surface repairs, clean ditches and respond to customers.
- Residency-wide- Slurry seal operations may result in delays at various locations.

- Rte 15 over Rte 460 – Restricted to one 11’ lane in work zone. Est. comp. October 2009.
- Rte 460 – Watch for equipment and manpower during shoulder repairs.
- Rte 619 – Crews will mow with a boom axe.
- Rte 628 over Briery Creek (15 – 630) – Road closed with detours for structure repairs until 8/9.
- Various – Crews will flush pipes, do ordinary bridge maintenance and perform customer service.
