Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced the appointment of Lynda Tran to serve as Communications Director in the Office of the Governor.
Tran, of Washington, D.C., is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Communications. She also holds a masters degree from Georgetown University in International Policy and Development. She has worked in communications for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) for eight years, most recently as Assistant Director of Communications. She has also served as National Communications Director and Spokesperson for SEIU’s Property Services Division, and spearheaded numerous advocacy campaigns.
“I am happy to have someone with Lynda’s skills and experience to guide my communications team,” Governor Kaine said. “The ability of my administration to effectively express solutions to challenges is of paramount importance, and I am confident that Lynda will maintain the high standards expected by the public and the media.”
Tran will succeed Delacey Skinner, who previously announced her resignation, effective December 31, 2008.
“I am honored to join the Governor’s team in this critical year for the Commonwealth,” Tran said. “I look forward to serving the hardworking families of Virginia in my new capacity.”
Tran will begin work in the Governor’s Office immediately.
