D-Day Memorial
Today, President Obama signed into law the National Defense Authorization Act, which included the legislation written and championed by Congressman Tom Perriello and Senators Mark Warner and Jim Webb to authorize the Department of the Interior to study whether the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, VA could become a National Park. Congressman Perriello issued the following statement:
“The legacy of D-Day and the Greatest Generation is one of valor, honor, and service to country. We must ensure the Memorial stands as a tribute for those who sacrificed for freedom. While there is still more work to be done, I’m deeply grateful we have accomplished this first, most important legislative step to protect the Memorial for the benefit of future generations.”
