Angel Tree
The first of the Library’s community outreach Christmas Trees are up, and located at the circulation desk at the Jamerson Library. This one is for the CVAAA (Central Virginia Area Agency on Aging Inc.), “Home for the Holidays” project. Paper angels decorate the tree for patrons to select and help provide a gift to our senior residents of Appomattox County. We ask everyone who selects an angel to please return the gifts by December 4th to the library, so that those who will receive them will get them in time for Christmas.
The second tree will be in the center of the Jamerson Library, near the window. The purpose of this tree is to collect unwrapped gifts for several families in the area who are to be sponsored by St. Anne’s Church. There is a wide age range needed, and any gifts donated will be used to help provide for families who are in need within Appomattox County.
The Jamerson Library continues to be source of community service and hosts several programs throughout the year.
The library maintains several boxes in the front foyer to collect non-perishable food items for St. Anne’s food bank. You can also drop off clothes and small household items to the library and a member of St. Anne’s will come pick them up. These items are collected for the clothing exchange or to help provide for families who may have had a house fire, or are in need of some help extra help. All donations are kept within Appomattox County.
The other box is for AWAG (Animal Welfare Action Group) for old towels and blankets, pet food, and other pet related items. This program helps families in need keep their beloved animals during these economic hardships instead of having to surrender them to the local pound or find another home for them.
The library would like to thank all our patrons who have giving so generously of themselves in the past and would like to remind them that during the winter month so much more is needed for the growing list of residents who require help.
