Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that the Commonwealth will host the 61st Virginia Conference on World Trade October 14-15 at the Dulles Westfields Marriott in Chantilly. Virginia companies will have the opportunity to learn more about global infrastructure business opportunities at the annual conference, hosted by the Virginia Economic Development Partnership and the Virginia Port Authority.
“Today, globalism drives successful business strategy. It is important that we help our companies align their businesses with the realities of the international marketplace,” Governor Kaine said. “I’m pleased that the Virginia Economic Development Partnership and the Virginia Port Authority are providing a forum for Virginia companies to gain expert advice and insight during these critical economic times.”
Jacques Besnainou, President of AREVA Inc., will open the conference and provide a global perspective on energy infrastructure needs. “Here in the Commonwealth, across the United States and worldwide, AREVA is investing in projects that will help us meet our goal of constructing and supporting the safe and reliable operations of one-third of the world’s new reactors,” he said. “We are pleased to have a strong presence in the Commonwealth and to support the Virginia Conference on World Trade and look forward to sharing information on AREVA’s global operations and ambitions.”
BAE Systems will provide its global perspective during the luncheon keynote address. United Kingdom Trade and Investment, Invest in France and the Embassy of Poland will provide an international perspective on global infrastructure initiatives. Advantages of the Virginia Inland Port will also be addressed, along with getting products to Asia on all water routes.
