Whitetail Deer Educational Workshop

Sweet Briar College and the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries will host an educational workshop on whitetail deer from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28. The workshop will be held in Heuer Auditorium in SBC’s Guion Science Center.

Presenters will be VDGIF wildlife biologists Matt Knox and Dan Lovelace, who are specialists on whitetail deer. Knox will present on the biology of the species and how to manage their populations in Virginia. Lovelace will cover practical ways to deal with the impact deer leave on their environment.

The sessions are free and open to anyone. They are designed to be of interest to land and homeowners, hunters, conservationists and nature enthusiasts. Seating is limited to about 150 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are not necessary.

The workshops are presented as part of the College’s naturalist-in-residence program, which is administered by the biology department.
