Town Council Announces Meeting Schedules

The Appomattox Town Council has announced their meeting schedule for 2008. All meetings will be held at the Appomattox Municipal Building at 210 Linden Street. Regular session meetings will be held on the second Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. with the exception of holidays. The council workshop meetings will be held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. Other rules also apply…

If the second Monday of the month is a holiday, the meeting will be held on the following night. If a council meeting is canceled due to inclement weather, the council will meet the following night. The meeting schedule can change only if a Council member makes a motion that is seconded and approved. During regular session meetings, the Council allows a public comment session. Anyone who would like to appear before the council may speak during the public comment period. If citizens wish to speak directly to Council on the meeting agenda, they must submit a written statement or a petition to the Clerk of the Council. Once on the agenda, citizens are to distribute any supportive material to council members and staff, providing 12 copies. Although Council allows some exceptions, speakers are requested to limit remarks to three minutes.

Be sure to check the Appomattox Calendar for updates to these meetings when possible.
