Lynchburg VA Clinic Opens This Week
Patient-care services at Lynchburg’s Community Based Outpatient Clinic will begin Tuesday, September 2. This clinic will make obtaining basic care easier for veterans who now travel to facilities in Salem or Richmond. The primary-care clinic will be a medical site for an estimated 6,300 of central Virginia’s 14,000 veterans. The clinic, which also will offer general mental-health services, will be staffed and managed by the Veterans Administration in Salem, which also will be the site for specialty referrals.
The 9,700-square-foot building, which is located across from Lynchburg College, is open to enrolled veterans who live in Lynchburg, Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford or Campbell counties. The clinic will fill a void, as – according to Rep. Robert Goodlatte, R-6th – Lynchburg was one of the largest cities in the United States without a Community Based Outpatient Clinic or a VA medical center within or near the city.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Friday, September 29th at 10:30 a.m. For more information on registering for the clinic, call (540) 982-2463 or visit www.va.gov or www.salem.va.gov.

Hello Keith – I can’t speak for the clinics or for the Lynchburg newspaper, but I can point you to our resources. We have a new section for Veterans at http://www.appomattoxnews.com/category/veterans. And, we’re building a page with resources just for Vets that are local, regional, statewide and nationwide.
I’ve noticed a huge outreach from Veterans administration organizations within the past month – perhaps things will turn around for you shortly.
What good is a va. clinic in Lynchburg when one cannot get an appointment there? I have MS, and find it difficult to travel to Salem . All i have received from both places,Lynchburg and Salem is a run-around! I think the news and daily advance would like to hear of my plight, a veteran of Viet-nam with MS , and can’t get anyone to listen.
